Welcome to the latest edition of NORMLs Weekly Legislative RoundupLegalize marijuana Congressman Charlie Crist D-FL and Congressman Drew Ferguson R-GA filed a new bill in the US House of Representatives this week to shield federal employees from being fired for marijuana use that is legal in the state in which they live.  Cannabis Possession in Manhattan is Decriminalized



Its Official: Manhattan has decriminalized cannabis possession.
Starting on August 1, 2018, those who use or possess cannabis will no longer be prosecuted, according to a press release issued by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr., whose office says it intends to reduce cannabis prosecutions by 96 percent annually in New York City. Our research has found virtually no public safety rationale for the ongoing arrest and prosecution of marijuana smoking, and no moral justification for the intolerable racial disparities that underlie enforcement, said Vance.
