 Californias legal marijuana businesses blow whistle on unlicensed operators

A number of permit-holding marijuana retailers in California view unlicensed competitors as serious threats. While fully compliant cannabis retailers across the Golden State are being forced to pass high tax rates on to their customers, some brazen unlicensed dispensaries advertise that they dont pay state or local taxes, meaning their marijuana is far cheaper than prices at law-abiding shops. We believe that by 2020, the legal market for adult-use cannabis will approach $6.5 billion in retail sales, claims the CBIC. For context, this is greater than the amount of spirits sold in this country, and approaches wine in scale.  Quebec inks bombshell supply deals for 359 tons of cannabis

Canadas second-largest province by population signed multiyear supply deals with six licensed cannabis cultivators for its recreational market, a move that provides much needed certainty for businesses and investors, analysts say. The six companies will supply an aggregate of approximately 325,000 kilograms 359 tons of cannabis over the life of the deals. Quebec-based Hydropothecary got the biggest share.
